Was there a clock there on the dashboard?

I have some sort of little digital display rectangle on my dash display - Caravelle 1990 dash - would that have once been a digital clock?
I'd love to have it working again - does it have a fuse?

Digital clocks are NLA unfortunately. The lcd slowly goes black, advancing from one corner as the glass display delaminates with old age.

Has anybody ever sourced a suitable replacement?

Time to raid the piggy bank............ http://www.ekmpowershop16.com/ekmps/sho ... -959-p.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Think I'd just replace it with a temp or voltage gauge and save the money.

Here's my solution from last summer.
Got it dimming now by fitting a potentiometer in series with the led supply, and fitted blue leds in place of dash bulbs.

Fitted an lcd clock from ebay

Fixed into aperture with glue gun and wired to connections for original clock. Backlight connected to instrument lights, doesn't dim though.

£75! I found one behind the kitchen in my van that the previous owner must have misplaced. I think I'll be cleaning that up and getting it in the classifieds.

OE digital clocks are a waste of time. There are better ones these days for just a couple of quid that display temperature as well as time and when you consider that post from Hong Kong and China is practically nothing, its hard to beat them. I opted for an LED diplay (green) to match my green dash lights but there are plenty of digital clocks on ebay that only require minor reworking of the dash to fit them.

The brightness of the LED genuinely puts me off, I like my dash to glow at night, not glare...

That's why I went to lcd, I tried led but it was too bright at night unless I put filters in front which made it too dim in sunlight. With lcd clock and the backlight wired to dash lights I can turn the backlight down to match the rest of the lighting.

its really easy to dim back lit lcd clocks that have no sperate light feed ( such as the cheap voltmeters ), just gently take them apart and between the led display and the backlight there will be a thin sheet of white paper material, just add another layer or two of domestic printer paper of the right size and it dims it to your taste for less than a penny

Madness. For that I'd just stick a battery-powered one on the dash with double-sided tape.
