Corriboard interior panels!! Great idea/Terrible idea?

Hi guys. As i was looking at all these election posters around the place I got to thinking; Hmmm..has anyone ever thought to use plastic corriboard sheets as the base for their interior panels?
I'm thinking why not? They're very lightweight, fairly sturdy, easy to shape. Just one thing, will the carpet lining stick to them with adhesive? Only one way to find out! I've already got permission from one of the candidates to take down some of theirs after the election (after the vote count of course!)

Of course there's probably a very good reason why everyone isn't doing this that I just haven't considered so if there is let me know!

No harm in trying. I use it at school from time to time.
It is very good to work with and the spray adhesive will stick it quite happily.

Downsides:
Once it's bent along a flute it will never hold straight again - not a prob if its kept flat and fixed into position (should you ever have to remove it, thats when it'll prob get kinked).

Cutting intricate shapes and curves is tricky.
Its pretty tough going even with a sharp knife. We use a laser cutter - i would suggest getting something like one of those hot wire cutter

They are very light (good thing) however they may drum a bit - depends a lot on the covering you use I suppose. Easily resolved either way.

Some good points there i hadn't considered, thanks. Drumming could very well be an issue, they do make noise when you tap them. Nice tip on the hot wire/foam cutters they would make it a lot handier for doing the corners and around the handle bit on the sliding door. I'm going to give it a go anyway, fix them on and see how they fare. Then if I'm happy I'll cover them with the carpet lining. I'd really like to do some detailing on the large sliding door panel, that could be extremely difficult with corriboard though so i'll have to have a think about that.

On a slightly different note...I got a good tip from a professional yesterday on how to make a seamless join with the carpet lining. For example; when lining the hightop roof, as a two meter wide roll of carpet won't go completely from one side to the other. The guy showed me a trick on a small piece of carpet he had. He glued down the first bit of carpet then glued down the second bit with an overlapping edge of about an inch. Where the two bits overlapped he used a sharp blade to cut the second piece along the line where they overlapped, removed the overlapping strip and the join was barely visible. then he got a toothbrush and brushed the fibers back and forth until the join was totally invisible. I thought that was an excellent tip especially for doing around the door windows in the cab so I'm looking forward to giving that a try too. Thanks again :)
