Another tyre question for 9x16

I have 9x16 on the rear running 245/45/16 at the moment. I need some new rubber but the 245s aren't cheap at £101 for toyos or £115 for continentals each. Just wondering what people are running with no or very little stretch and not low profile.

Don't have an accident because those tyres aren't load rated for the T25.

I have 255/45/17 out the back on 9" and they are 97 rated. XL type by Falken iirc from Camskills

Been running on them for nearly 2years with a panel van with just a r&r bed inside. Can't see weight being to much of a trouble.

Getting a wide tyre for a 16 rim seems to be a problem unless you lots of cash!

I think the concern was being raised that if you run stretched tyres, or tyres with a load rating of less than 97, then you leave yourself at risk with insurers and the law if you get into an accident.

'technically' your tyres have to be rated to the max gross weight of the van, not what it weighs empty with just a bed in
like you said you have been running it for 2 years with no hassle but i would stay with your current mot man if i were you

remember load rating on tyres is per corner
so if a tyre has 500kgs LR you are OK up to 2000kgs

All modern half decent tyres are decent

No it wont be ok, because the van is rated for a GVW of 2500kg!
The axle max loads on the commission plate dictate what you can safely fit:
95 load rating is the absolute minimum for a T3 on the front, 97 at the back gives a margin of safety.
