On acceleration there seems to be flat spots or a lag in throttle response up to cruising about 40 mph then it seems to settle down. 1991 t25 1900dg. I've replaced fuel filter and changed plugs..vans done about 65.ooo miles. any idears would be appreciated. Thanks pan-al.

I had a similar problem, hesitation in pulling away until the van reached 3.000 rpm. I thought of every thing and ruled out the easy stuff, points, tubes, plugs, etc. Eventually I bit the bullet and striped the carburettor giving it a good clean and fitted the parts from a refurb kit. It wasn't as difficult as I thought and the van now responds without lag and I even get about 5 mph more for the same reves as before.

Engine revs to road wheel revs/mph is a fixed ratio in any particular gear:D
It's a bit like those go faster stripes.
