Hi

Spring job.......

Was thinking of painting van KTM orange.

Can't afford a pro job so........

Do they do a brush on paint that would level out nicely & not look too rough?

Would want it pretty tough wearing.

Any reccomendations?

Cellulose paint if you can get it, and do a search for "jennybrush" painting system. It`s a foam roller and foam "brush" set. I painted my boat with it, very good results. You roler the paint on using the foam rollers, then "lay off" the paint downwards using the foam brush, removes all marks and brush strokes and leaves a finish like glass My mate saw my boat and though it was made of fibreglass because the finish is so smooth, boat is made of wood

I think the only place you can get the genuine Jennybrush stuff is off Ebay Well worth using, and it`s fast using the roller to get it covered.

Westy....Can I ask why you say cellulose & is it hard to get hold of?

im in the process of coach paint my t25, flat pannels are easy its when you get to bends in the pannels and corners where the paint tends to gather and then runs. it still looks good then i will t-cut it in a few weeks (cheap £70 to do 3 coats and propably better coverage than a spray job)

you can get cellulose ANYWHERE £20 per litre, but if you want to coachpaint yer van you need "tekaloid" otherwise known as knacker laquer, it maybe a little harder to get hold of, but ask any old timer about coachpainting!! it maybe too obvious a question. but why dont you just spray it with 2k. coachpainting is damned hard work and will cost you your social life etc. and lets face it the only things to be rollered these days are barges and austin sevens

Well to be obvious.................its the equipment, the space to do it & isn't '2 pack' quite expensive?

i get it for £20 a litre, prices do vary though. the equipment isnt expensive really and its yours to keep.

DONT T-CUT as this will knock the shine OFF !!!

you will have to use t-cut or farecla g3 to flat it back, thats is of course after the wet n dry paper(2000) and soapy water flatting session "if needed" the swirl marks will come out with good expensive polish and elbow grease, or a proper polisher with the different mops (ebay specials) £45 ish. bute ! from matt to glass in no time...

can only comment on mine mr chin, but ANY kind of 'messing' with the finish left a crappy 'flat' colour... the paint was this teckolloyd stuff also.

That sounds like my experience.

Cellulose you must T-Cut (or equivalent) if you want a shine.

Enamel (like Tekaloid) you should leave alone. The best shine is straight from the tin. If you really want to polish or otherwise fiddle with it you need to wait at least a week and preferably 3-4 weeks for it to harden fully.
