non vw, mains lecky

any sparkies out there can help. i have aquired a 6Kw genny and this item is not working

im happy to make it fit in so far as its narrower etc ,its the electrical technical safety side im not sure of

I can't see from the first picture what the spec of that one is, so very difficult to give a definite answer. But if you were to take the old one to any electrical wholesaler, they should have the equivalent in stock at around that kind of price. There are branches of City Electrical Factors all over the place. I used to use the one in Sheffield a lot when I was doing my son's house.

You should make sure that the current rating (ie 16A or 40A) and leakage tripping current (ie 30mA or 10mA) are the same, and it's got the same number of poles, (ie Live and Neutral). You need an RCD (residual current device). An RCBO is intended for a slightly different purpose. Get that right, and you're good to go. If the new one is narrower, they can also supply standard plastic blanking pieces to cover the hole.

Once installed it should be tested by a sparky, because it's there to save your life.
