BIG sunroof

I want to get rid of my pop top but id still like to stand up.

Does anyone know anything about a large sunroof?

I crossed the road to 'harass' a chap in Brighton a couple of months ago who had a silver seven seater rhd syncro with a big sunroof behind the front seats. It was a metal one, maybe electric. Easily covered a third of the roof.

I don't fancy the mohair ones that slide and retract, unless they keep the heat in and prying fingers out.

Factory big sunroof is steel, manual, Golde type
you'd have to find a donor and remove the roof skins and swap the entire roof over as it is effectively a cassette;
conversions have been done, youthlygiblets did pretty detailed post (maybe still on brickyard if not on here) when he converted his panel van and Brickie has done the same to his Syncro panel van though the actual techniques employed were slightly different
they come up for sale from time to time
be aware the mechanical parts are virtually obsolete so if you buy a donor make sure it works well
take a look in the Bentley manual for more details

Part of the winding mechanism goes down the nearside B post ... I found it when installing an additional bulkhead in a Velle GL. :shock:

Er....let me get this right. You want to remove a working pop-top roof, and replace it with a sunroof, so you can stand up (presumably with your head and shoulders outside in all weathers)? Really?

I removed my poptop as it was very tattered and battered and the roof was rusted - in retrospect probably would have been better to refurbish it...

Having owned three T25s over 25 years - a van, doka and now a tintop caravelle. Extra bedding/storage space aside, I've come to the conclusion that there are only a few times you need to stand up. Everything else I do sitting down, including cooking. I have been offered all kinds of roofs in the last ten years. Its much easier to expand sideways with an awning. Going from a poptop to a sunroof (if you can find one) is dooable but a major undertaking to say the least. I have a feeling that many T25s with roofs will eventually rust away (seen many that already have) and all that'll be left will be the tintops - reason perhaps why I'm hanging on to mine.

I may know where there is a complete moon roof roof cut off below the gutters, I'll see if the man still has it ......

I have left a message for the man, I'm not sure if he has sold it or not, but I have sent him a link to this thread anyway

I've got a full roof clip.

I might put it on my panel but could be persuaded to part with it.
