Interior Table 'Widget'

Help !
I got a table for Christmas, can anyone explain this widgets function?

Looking at their site - it is for locking it in position, so that it doesn't slide when in correct position. Goes in the middle by the look of it.

Oh I see, yeah it is spring loaded,so the pressure up on the underside is enough to stop it sliding, cool. Cheers OG
