Gas tank above gearbox?

So I am currently restoring my T3 and looking fit a gas tank externally for the hob/fridge and thinking of installing a cylinder style gas tank in the void between the top of the gearbox and the underside of the vehicle.

According to my calculations a tank 200mm x 585mm should fit.

The question is, has any done this or seen it installed before?

Open to suggestion on this topic.

Thanks, Will.

Possibly. You can fit just shybof a 1000mm tank but it will be a pig to fit and service...

Somebody looked into this before, I think they intended to cut a hole in the floor to get it in and service it, not sure myself if the floor is structural.

Nice idea.
Just put a Westie under the floor.

No room for a Westy gas tank as fresh water tanks will be on one side under the floor and a diesel tank for the Eber on the other side.

Would seem more logical to get rid of the eber and diesel tank and replace with gas fired heater and leisure lpg tank.

I looked at this a few years ago and whilst theres a lot of wasted space above gearbox nose, you'd have to modify floorpan quite a bit to get the proper access needed, plus it would be one hell of a mud trap. That said, I was tempted to extend the space under rear seat into that area for an extra battery or other odds and ends. Lot of cutting and welding though to be honest.
