The next task for me is to replace the heater hoses after a rather dramatic failure in the summer (still sporting its temporary repair since then).

I will be using the replacement hose from Brickwerks,

Does anyone know what length I will need in total? (without me having to go outside in the cold and dark to measure up).

Also, the point that failed before is where the hose attached to the head of the engine, the hose had just been stretched and clamped over the coolant flange on the back of the head.
Is this the normal way things are done? Or is there usually some kind of reducer?

which would act nicely as a reducer, but I was wanting to know what the normal way is.

The factory pipe has a flared end on it, thats fits onto the back of the head.

I replaced mine recently along with the coolant pipes (1.9 DG engine) I ordered 9 metres from Brickwerks and there was plenty to spare, probably 8 metres would be enough but I thought for all the cost best get a little more.
