Im not a diesel expert but white smoke is unburnt fuel, so it may be a knackered glow plug or 4.

I had similar symptoms with my JX , my starter motor went pop ,replaced with new one, the engine now turns
over much quicker and starts first turn. 80 % of smoke gone. Not that I know too much about diesel engines I simply put it down to
unburnt fuel when chugging over to start with knackered starter motor

I don't know that much about diesel engines either but you do get water vapour which has collected from condensation in the exhaust. In cold weather this billows out as white smoke on start up on a cold morning.
