Fiberglass tailgate

Hi, I have replaced my old rotten tailgate with a new fiberglass one from giddy campers. It looks great and will obviously be ruat free. However I am having a bit of a problem with it closing. It fits perfectly without the struts attached. Everything lines up, the shut lines are good and the lock fits perfectly etc. However when I put the struts on and go to close it it doesn't fit properly. It will not clear the base of the engine bay and it does not line up quite right. The lock will also not clear the gap either. It must be about 1cm out or so. I have tried everything I can think of to adjust it but nothing seems to make a difference. The struts came with the tailgate as they are lower powered. 200nm I think.
Can't quite get my head around it and its driving me mad!
Any suggestions?

Josh

If you have put the glass back in it and it's fully built, then all I can think of is that the hinges are flexing on the tailgate under the weight and making it drop, aided and abetted by the struts pushing it and thus fouling the shut panel.

Try disconnecting the struts, get a small step ladder to stand on and pull the tailgate at a horizontal plane, with a helper watching to see if the hinges are flexing on the tailgate.

:ok
