Fitting calibre vintage wheels

Hi folks, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. Looking to get some calibre vintage alloys in 17" to fit to my 1982 transporter. I have contacted different wheel companies and had mixed responses. One firm said they would not fit on and they don't stock them, also that they could fit with adjustment but wouldn't be safe. Another company said they have them and they would fit. I have seen the wheels on t25s before but read something about them being used with spacers or something. Any help would be much appreciated.
Also I plan to drop the van by 50mm or so at the same time, and would the tyres I choose make a difference at All. Thank you

I believe that they're 35. But I'd be happy getting a different size wheel or ones that look very similar. :s

Awesome, any chance of posting a picture? And did you need to make changes to hub or bolts etc?

If you go from steel to Alloy you will need longer studs due to the extra thickness of the lug nut seat.
you also need to know if they are radiused seats or taper.
you also need to know if the hub grease cap will fitt in the centre bore hole. (details in wiki)
you also need to know if the lug holes are the correct diameter.

Are they suitable for the load. Surely this is the most important question.
