usually use thin screwdrivers for this job and have ruined a few terminals as well,saw a tool by a company called Lisle that have a multi prong tool with six different prongs on for different terminals,anyone used this or have any suggestions for an alternative?

All the ones that I have seen are way too expensive for what they are - I go back to my watchmaker size screwdrivers. They have the advantage that you can give them a 90 degree twist to help depress the tang.

I bought a pair if those generic 6-sided tools, Durite branded but absolutely useless for most jobs.
Better off with some bits of bent welding wire in a selection of gauges.

It is the same as the Durite ones. Works with varying degrees of success, some types of terminal it is the only way to get them out. There are two tools to cope with all different terminals. You can find them at varying prices not so bad when you buy them both together.

For the round fusebox terminals you can make your own out of brass tubing.

I use flattened stainless TIG rod and brass tubing (model shops are the best place for this).

He he, lots of good ideas here.

I use the thin stainless strip out of old wiper blades which is a super good grade of steel, then I use a flap disc to shape the ends down as required. Bent into a U shape these are great for all the various junior-timer terminals.

I dream of finding an original VW VAS1978 repair kit with all the proper tools..

All the 1978---.tools are available separately but the kit is now obsolete...
