I have just bought an aftermarket replacement steering column top cover/shroud as mine was broken. It has a higher front edge with a square cut out in it that my original didn't. Does anyone know what it is for?

originally for the heated seat switch, you could get a blank plug for it or some people fit something else like a lcd clock/temp read out
