Hi there
I an in the middle of rebuilding my Subaru EJ25 in pre for lumping it in my T25

I have stripped it right back and almost ready to build back up with new gaskets/seals ect.
As you can see form the pix I have the oil pump, water pump, heads and everything else off.

My first question is am I safe to pressure wash it how is stands?
Secondly regarding the inner bore of the cylinders, is it OK to clean the smooth inner bore with some metal polish such as Autosol metal cleaner or should I not?

Lastly I am thinking of painting the block, manifold ect when putting together to tart it up, what paint should I be looking at?

Thanks guys

I know of lots people that have used standard body paints on the block. I've seen oranges, silvers, blue and even engine/body matches.

I would not pressure wash it, the water tends to get into places you don't want it to . as for polishing the bores they should have a honed Finnish , don't polish them.

Bores should be honed if fitting new piston rings, otherwise leave them as is.

Great thanks guys
I will keep with the elbow grease/brass drill brush to get it cleaned up.

For a true Subaru look the inlet manifold should be done with VHT crinkle red as that's what is used when refurbing a sti manifold , the black crinkle also looks very good :ok

Here is the engine build I done for a privious Scoob for some ideas , manifold was done in crinkle red (but looks shiny in the pics for some reason) aswell as the rocker covers , cam belt covers were hydro dipped with £50 notes as they tend to cost a fortune lol ,, I'll be doing something similar when my Subaru engine goes into the van

Looking good there m8

Love the hydro-printing. Is that expensive?
Is it a DIY or do you have to get it done elsewhere?
