Any recommendations for garage floor paint?

Hi, just as the title says do any of you have a recommended floor paint. I have seen some reviews that complain about the paint coming off on the cars tyres and alot that appear to only use as a hobby room with no oil and petrol spills.

The main reason for the paint coming off or peeling is the condition of the floor before the paint is applied. I managed a self storage business for several years with 550 rooms that had to have floors painted and re-painted regularly. I would make sure your floor is perfectly dry and choose a dry day to apply, de-grease the floor. A coat of PVA before applying the paint will help. Best way we found to apply paint was cut in round walls etc with a three inch brush, then use a roller on a pole, pour some paint straight from the tin onto the floor and spread out with the roller

Forgot to mention, we found Johnstones as good as any brand and leave it to dry for at least 48 hours, ideally longer before placing anything on the surface, even if it feels perfectly dry.

I used a 2.5 l tin of red garage floor paint from Wilkinsons, (cheapo store very similar to the old Woolworths) it wasn't one of the known brands, I think it was their own. It went on with no problems, but, like the previous poster I did spend a lot of time in prepping, in particular degreasing the floor. I applied it with a brush, but to be fair it's only a single garage and one coat did it, anything bigger and I'd have used a roller, I also did the interior walls in white masonry paint. It was one of those jobs I always promised myself I would do when I had the time, along with some decent shelving a work bench and some decent wall racking. So far it hasn't chipped or lifted and I find it easier to find things such as small nuts and screws that you inevitably drop and more importantly it keeps the dust down and is easier to keep clean. ( Nothing is to much bother for my motorbike !!)
PS make sure you don't paint yourself in to a corner

Never paint onto bars concrete - it won't last. What is the condition of your floor at present? Neoprene primer us a fantastic product for sealing, it's green, smells lovely and is good enough for a final finish - if you like green. If not, overcoat with a couple of coats of floor paint.

The present floor finish is floor paint but it is getting a bit threadbare in places and was done 30 years ago before the days of health and safety, I was high for a day or so after painting, I just want something that will be as durable hopefully.

We painted the workshop floor in 2000, getting a little patchy now but has lasted well.
Ameron epoxy iirc, bought through Avenue.

Priming will prevent any thread bare patches, however, the abrasive action of the tyres on the floor may wear the paint thin over a period of time.

The swarf we tramp around is far more aggressive than a bit of dirt on tyres!
The benefits of a garage floor painted in a bright colour can't be underestimated.

Thanks for your replies chaps, have found an online site for 2 pack epoxy, I thought I could have red or grey but it seems you can have any colour including 'sky blue pink' oh decisions, decisions.

I have always found that a light grey is good as it reflects light better giving better working conditions

Use epoxy floor paint on ply for my deck in the boat for years. Two or three coats lasts for asses years.

Can this be used outside. I have had drains work done and the 3ft or so cement in front of the house looks a mess.

I would expect damp coming up to be detrimental. Garage floors usually have a damp proof membrane. My deck ply is painted on all sides so it is encapsulated.
