OK I have a tailgate on a late (1992) T3 and the inner lower tailgate seam is very rotten with the left hand side almost completely gone.

The question I have is does anyone make inner tailgate repair panels? ive seen plenty of outer ones but not come accross inners...

anyone help?

regards

Johnathan

I was looking to see if schofields had anything bay window or earlier that could be adapted. I think you mean this http://www.alanhschofield.com/ourparts/ ... 43109.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it's sliding door but is a good possible starting point with some adaptation. I have a slightly crusty early tailgate that I'd like to keep alive at some point

I can't see a tailgate inner edge (doesn't mean there isn't one!)

trouble is most of these "inner" repair typew panals are so poorly made and thin and misshapen thast its beasier to remake, certaiunly the tailgate inner is not an issue , just cost of repaiir v s/hand gate
as for the slider well ive ceased using the available loower repair panal as its worse that what you cut of  ,
i did this one recently

ok it wasnt rotten all the way along but wouldnt have made that much difference

then quick weld

if you need to go higher up then no issue and you dont need to add the holes though i do add them with a Qmax cutter and it looks better
measure both ends prior to folding the new skin on

and done
Image
not the best picky but is worked fine with little filler

no stock though.

Mine has gone in the corners as well as the lower edge.

I repaired my tailgate about 18 months ago with that panel, it's not the best fit, had to trim the edges to make it fit, but it's a repair panel, not the original, so what do you expect?

Still searching. Brickwerks out of stock and not likley to get any more...

Amazing that for a part that is getting really difficult to get hold of that there is no repair panel anymore....
