Hi guys got a Pierburg 2e3 i believe on my 1.9 dg. Among over problems i seem to have a leak of coolant from the choke housing?
1. i cant find much info on the coolant/ carb relationship. i know it controls the autochoke which i dont have.
2. can i get a new gasket? cant really see where its leaking from but its definitely that area/ carb.
any help greatly received

P.s. it's leaking quite bad and only stops when the engine is cold. Not sure what to do guys as it's my only vehicle

The chamber through which coolant flows (to heat the bi-metallic spring and open the choke flap) is a sealed casting, so there's no gasket. It can be separated from the carburettor without disturbing the water circuit, for instance (three screws).
So unless it's fractured somehow, then your water leak is most likely from one of the two hose unions. I'd start by removing the hoses and cleaning up the hose spigots. If they're badly corroded and pitted, you could use some metal epoxy ('JB Weld' for instance) to smooth out the pitting in the sealing faces.

agreed most likely hose spigots get aluminium oxide build up which expands and causes leaks, clean up usually fixes it

Agreed, the coolant passes through the housing, through a manifold, if there's a leak and the hoses are not leaking then it may be the manifold that's leaking and will need to be replaced.
see? no gasket just a spring...
and on the other side, what the spring connects to
I have a used one available
Why has the choke been disconnected?

Hey guys that's for all the epic help! Yep as you guys said a build up of years of coolant, bit of pitting and crap hose clips. Sorted now but will replace the hoses soon.
Cheers guys !

Ahh sorry. The choke has been disconnected as the plastic but that connects to it had snapped and only half of it was found. The rest a mystery. So when I was driving it would flap around freely

That won't help the engine run correctly.
Do you want to fix it?

The plastic dog connects to the choke flap, if the flap is free to move then the engine won't run right on either fuel.
You need to stop the flap moving, preferably holding it open.
No use whatsoever tuning it with the flap loose
I have that part.

OK
The choke mechanism also connects to the cold start fast idle, again this works with both fuels
