Show Us The Homes - Shelters Built For Your Campers

Hello

I've been thinking about this thread for a while, I know some people have built various shelters for their campers, it would be great to see what is out there for ideas and inspiration.....I'll get the ball rolling....

When we moved to Suffolk we had (still have) an old concrete garage I figured I could lift the front frame and build some doors which would allow me to park the old girl in the garage...just!

Finished - There was about 4" to spare getting the westy in

The westy is sold and with the Syncro on its way I think I will be rebuilding from scratch as soon as funds allow

Nice garage. Re the Syncro - you could lift the roof on props, and put in another layer of blocks all the way around, then drop the roof back down. It would lift the roof by about 8 inches, and still look much the same.

Mark did you find a garage to fit the van. I find with the concrete garage there is a lot of condensation if its really cold. If your base is concrete I was also told to put some carpet or even some plastic down under the van as a barrier, last year the ground was wet under the bug without a barrier

No it's cedar clad with thick insulation sides and roof with a workshop on the side fully powered.
Plenty of storage in the roof.

I extended the concrete base to 4m x 5m with an expansion joint, previously had a precast concrete one with an up and over door that my split would just squeeze in. timber framed, wrapped up with breathable roofing membrane, tantalised shiplap, insulated with 50mm cavity bats and the inside ply lined........ still have a few bits to finish off, but its only been 4yrs :D.......my old concrete one was ok regarding condensation but it did have a asbestolux roof not steel. another crappy photo shows the scale of it as you can see my old transit van in the back ground

I started with this:

Then put this on top:

But they was too unstable so built this on top:

After a few different roof options that worked fine for 3 years:

Even had a door

Then I pulled it all down and sent the van to be finished

Hi tforturton

I thought long and hard about the concrete garage options and I think I will build a new garage at some point, I'm waiting until the syncro is back before deciding. I have just put a 4.5 x 5.5 base in at the back of the garage which will be my workshop with the main garage for the van and other bits.
