Guys and girls,

I'm in the throws of a rear arch replacement on my bus and need to repair the bottom of my c post. For those that have done it what is the bet way to fab a repair patch?

I have tried a cardboard template but the replacement came out a touch too big when transferred to steel. Would I be better bending a plate to match the profile of the post then trimming the bottom to taper in as required? Or is there a preferred method?

I can't speak from experience as mine were ok . Look through the multitude of metalmick8y rebuilds and somewhere you will find detailed pictures and method of doing the repair .
He should write a bodywork repair manual covering the T25

Yeah I've tried that dude but the search function isn't my friend today! Any pics of the process would be great tho! I've had a look at the bay restoration manual for inspiration by it's not in depth for this bit! B post no problem but c-post seems forgotten?!

Thanks for the link - very detailed, but it's the actual fabrication of the part that I'm asking about rather than the repair to the bus.

I'm working on the drivers side of a RHD bus so no slider here - the c-post is buried behind the rear arch panel and it quite a complicated shape! I'm a bit of a novice (used to fitting prefabricated panels but not making my own) so just wondering how is best to go about it.

How did you go about bending up the repair piece? Did you do it in one piece or weld together a jigsaw of bits?

I used cardboard templates for my repairs (cereal packet cardboard is about the same thickness as the metal).
Trace around the template onto new metal with a sharp scriber. Cut to size, offer up and then adjust as needed. If things are slightly too big (usually is due to tracing around the outside of the template) I used the edge of a grinding stone on a small angle grinder to trim to exact size. Trial and error...

Maybe try again with thinner card then, I used good strong corregated box the first time, prob twice as thick as necessary.

Some of the little repair pieces I made for Jambo took longer to make than to weld them in. As ^^ trial and error
