Currently refurbishing the engine on my 1989 1.9 WBX and need to replace the barrels and Pistons as they are outside of the tolerances.
Who would be the best supplier for these ?
I have managed to source Original manufacturer parts for most of the replacement items but struggling with the barrels and Pistons.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

They do them at vw heritage

I believe all new pistons are slightly shorter than the originals and thus very slightly reduce compression but not enough to worry unless you are a perfectionist.

I have used the Heritage/AA set with good results. They are made in China and packaged in USA, so they've done a few thousand miles already! Quality seems pretty good, as all pistons weighed within 2 grammes of each other, and barrels mic'ed up within spec.

Thanks for the pointers. I was a little wary of the AA barrels and Pistons but not a lot of choice out there really I have ordered them now and wI'll check them thoroughly when they arrive.
Thanks again.
