Another gluing request...

Just finishing up the two footplates on T25. Welding and painting. Just need to refit the old plastic covers now. Can anyone recommend a good glue (or alternative)? Also - what is the point of the holes here? Is it to keep the plastic pieces from moving about, or is it to drain the footplate when it gets wet? Presumably if you use glue this won't then drain?

Your plastic (rubber?) step inserts should have pegs moulded into the bottoms, that push through four small holes, and hold them in place. Don't always work, though, they tend to loosen up with age. If they won't go through, try using a rubber or wooden mallet. The bigger round hole is there for draining, I suppose.....

Should they be rubber! I think mine are so old they look like solid plastic now. They have lost all flexibility. I'll see if I can get new ones. cheers

Don't bother refitting them. That way you can easily see any water there rather than it festering away unseen. At best don't glue.
