What's this exhaust on South African Syncros?!

Hello,

So I've been procrastinating with sorting out my leaky exhaust on my South African 2.1DJ Syncro. Have finally decided to do something about it and the good new is it's just around the silencer that leaking. Bad news is that the exhaust is nothing like any of the others I've found! It seems that invariably the intermediate pipe (as seen on Brickwerks) runs down the left side of the engine. On mine it runs along the back (pulley end) of the engine doing a full 180 at the silencer.

Not easy to photo an exhaust upside down on your back, but these might make it clearer...

Does anyone know if the exhausts on SA busses are one of those SA specific parts? I'm assuming (having googled a lot) I can't simply get replacement parts here, so would the full exhaust systems I see on brickwerks and the rest still fit this bus?! The silencer looks a decidedly different shape too... seems more oval on my bus.

For now I'm just going to try and get the silencer welded where it's leaking, but it's going to be useful for the future if anyone can shed some light on this.

Thanks all!

that's not a VW system that's aftermarket, if it's from SA then all you can do is go to a decent exhaust specialist and have them replicate bits required as best they can or replace as a whole

Thanks Aidan. That's pretty much what I was expecting. Now off to find a decent exhaust specialist! If anyone has recommendations surrey/hants border way let me know.

Cheers

Just fit a VW Speedshop and pay someone to alter the angle of the primany pipe flanges (where they cross the moustache bar)
This will kick the 4-1 collector and the silencer up behind the valance and get it out of the way.
About 14 degrees iirc
