Engine wobble

Can anybody tell me how much the engine Should wobble when it's ticking over (if it should at all). My engine has always wobbled a bit and I assumed the engine mounts would be shot. Yesterday I took the engine out to change the water pump and a few other little bits that need doing and the engine mounts looked ok. Is the wobble normal or are there any other reasons it may be happening? Not sure if it's relevant or not but the engine is a 1.9 WBX
Cheers, Gaz

Not sure of your problems but your engine shouldnt wobble, mine doesnt but I can make it wobble (please dont put this in out of context) if I alter the timing, so perhaps you need to check yours.

You can't judge mounts by sight. Not uncommon for them to be detached but not show this until support bar removed. Rough running a possible cause as above.

Ok, cheers for your advice. I think I'll change the mounts as a matter of course anyway whilst the engine is out. Then I think I'll get the engine tuned up properly by a professional and hopefully that will sort it. Could the gearbox mount be another reason for the movement? I haven't checked it yet so it could be fine.

Severe wobble is a too low idle speed issue or an idle speed misfire.

mine wobbles a bit at idle - guess my idle speed is to low.
Not helped by having a weber carb that I cannot figure out.
Just another job for the to-do list.
