Leaks!!!!

Hello
I'm new here :-)
We have a 1984 T25, ugly, rusty and we love her! The roof has been leaking for a while and our lovely local mechanic has patched her up, fixing the leak around the skylight and replacing one of the hinges on the pop-top. The most recent "fix" was aluminium bonded tape all around the seam between roof and top which has greatly reduced water ingress.
However, we know that ultimately the only solution is to have the whole roof and top removed and replaced and this is beyond our mechanic's capabilities. So, does anyone know where we might get this work done (we live in south Devon) and roughly how much a job of this size costs?
Many thanks
Kate

Whoa there....don't go taking the whole roof off just yet. Leaking skylights are quite a common fault, that come up fairly regularly on this site. Use the search facility to track down previous posts. Likewise the hinge - although we'll know more when you post up some pictures, it's probably nothing that a bit of fibreglass grafting wouldn't cure.
Your title doesn't help - a leak could be anything - engine, fuel, windows. We also need to know what sort of roof it is.

Ah ok
It is a water leak and thankfully skylight one seems to be sorted although the reports have said the wooden struts within the skin up there are gradually rotting. I'm afraid I don't know what roof it is except fibregalss, it is a Devon conversion and the rain seems to be getting in somewhere along the seal of roof to pop-top. Given all the channels and gullies that seem to exist within the skin where water is getting in doesn't equate with where it is coming out which are the two holes right at the back on either side just before the rear door (boot). The one over the bed drips on my head (lovely) the other is in the water container cupboard.
I'll try and post pictures when it next rains (it's Devon so probably later today). We know ate least two of the hinges need a proper replace as they have been repaired and filled before.

Leaks with Devon roofs are quite common. If you go to either the Bodywork forum, or the Camper forum, and search under 'Devon', you'll find there are quite a few posts on the same subject. There are also pictures of vans, so you should be able to confirm that it is indeed a Devon that you have.
Also search on google - 'Poptop parts uk' sell most parts for Devon roofs. They even tell you where to look...

As Andy said, don't rush into removing the roof. The drips on your head could be as simple as a faulty tailgate seal, or even condensation dripping off the galss onto your head. Also the water leak in the water tank cupboard.. are you sure its definately not a water tank leak, or a leak around the tank filler point or the connecting pipework?

Replacement seals can be expensive but try them first and buy quality parts as they will be a lot easier than removing the pop top.
