Stainless steel exhaust system

My van failed MOT on exhaust system. It might be time to invest in a stainless steel set up. The whole system looks a bit mangy!
Has anyone on here used Longlife as mentioned in the WIKI. I have one in my town.
Just need to get one in ASAP and fitted by somone, which by accounts can be a a B***** of a job. Though my engine has been fully reconditioned in 2004 by previous owner, so studs might be ok?

I used a longlife installer here in Bristol, no problems with it, they did have to drill out a few studs, I think they charged me about £900 or so in the end.

Yeah pretty pricey, but I suppose if you keep the van for a long time it's worth it.
Was going to use a Brickwerks one but they were out of stock when I needed mine for mot.
Cheers jack

As above it really depends if you want to keep your van, if not then mild steel is cheaper

Take a trip down the M4 to Pro-Speed in Cardiff. Talk to Charlie - he fitted a full stainless exhaust for me a couple of yrs ago for £600. I think it's more now but he'll do a fantastic job.

Charlie recently quoted me £650 for a stainless system for my Syncro. Sounds like a bargain, but I keep thinking about the dreaded exhaust studs. If they shear off, then it's an engine-out job to drill and heli-coil them. Hard to see how he can do it for that price.....

Not necessarily. I had a couple sheared off & he welded a nut on what was left & got them out.

Van is booked in for a new stainless exhaust from ProSpeed. Went down there to speak to Charlie, and was very impressed - he knows his Syncros. Will post up some pics once it's back. Couple of weeks yet - they've got a waiting list....

You won't be disappointed, he's a top bloke & will do an ace job. Make sure you get the keys to his loaner BMW for the day whilst he's building the exhaust!

Just dropped the bus off at Prospeed. Sadly had to get the bus home - the loaner was already taken....

Just popped in to say
why aren't stainless steel exhaust systems, err "stainless"
All the ones I have seen, including my own (BlueBird "Twin tip"

) and even the SS tailpipes you can get, do "stain" quite a lot. I know they don't go rusty, but that nice shiny new look soon changes to blotchy bluey gold colouration
Just musing over it

Stainless - 'less' being relative?
