Novice T25 owner needs mechanical skills!

Hi
Still pretty new to this excellent forum.
I've had a proud / frustrating / expensive first year with my van. Had to replace several big lumps in the engine: engine (re-con AAZ), turbo, alternator. However, I've enjoyed great trip to the W Highlands and enjoyed changing for surfing in the warm.

Something I've learnt is how limited my mechanic skills are! What I'd really like is a mechanic I can spend a day with (at an agreed charge!) to learn to change the oil, change brake pads, tighten CV bolts etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm in the Brighton area.

Thanks

Have a look at local further education colleges and see if you can find a DIY vehicle maintenance evening course. I did a 10 week one at University of Westminster. It was a little bit of everything and not vehicle specific. Just enough to get over the initial inertia and give some confidence.

I'd love there to be a technical meet up, particularly for novices/amateurs. I'm keen to get to know more about the T25. Techenders for the T25 anyone?? I'd be happy to find a location - Merseyside/Cheshire area. Maybe one Saturday in October??

Talk to Simon (TooManyToys) at T3volution, he's a Syncro owner and mechanic and knows these vans well. He might be up for a training weekend for a fair price? Obviously this is how he makes his livelihood so you would need to pay him for his time, but I have spent a few weekends working with him (watching him welding up rust holes mostly :( ) and he is very patient.

Thanks for the responses.
Yes, I'd be up for a novices Techenders w/e for T25s at a reasonable price. I'd much prefer a location in southern England though. I wouldn't know where to start to find someone do the mechanical input.

I went to Techenders a few times with my first van, used to be on the JK forums...there was only one other T25 there at the time....my old van was Aircooled so not a lot different...

I learnt to service it and do a load of other bits made lots of friends and met some decent helpful people...

A T25'techenders would be good, I know Si (TMT) did a weekend at Tigs place in Suffolk a few years ago

I'm another who would happily attend a day/weekend masterclass.

Surely someone wants to take our money!
