Oh dear, a little help please.

Hello all, I've just been doing a little pre MOT check on the van and it's the first time I've been under there properly since I bought it last year. Was abit suprised to see this shocking bodge job. Where the white filler is in these pictures it is hiding big holes underneath. And the edges are pretty jagged.

This leads me to two questions.
1 Is this an MOT failure (looking at my poor photos)
2 it looks like the whole inner wheel arch needs changing, do you agree? How much roughly will this cost?

Oh and 3 will the outside of the van need to be disturbed to fix the inside?

Any advice welcome. Thank you.

Pictures appear to be too big. heres the photobucket link http://s942.photobucket.com/user/george ... t=3&page=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm no expert but you can get away MOT with with alot of rusty holes on these vans because they have chassis sections.

may need to get some zoomed out pictures to be clear where this is

It's behind the rear offside wheel if u imagine looking up into the wheel arch. It's pretty much all the way around the inside.

take it for the mot and see what it fails on some mot stations will give you a quote for the work.IT does look like it needs welding but that's no surprise on a t25 :D .I'm always having to do a bit of welding on mine every mot due date.

how close does it gef to the trailing arm , thats the bit that will likely fail if its rotten, my (limited) guess is the rest would pass, just looking for a pic of mine at the very back

I would love to try and do it myself but I'm not overly confident. I got a mate with a welder and I've been practicing at work and I'm getting pretty good but when it comes to the van I get nervous. MOT is due on 5th nov do I'm allowed to take it in early arnt I? I may do that.

That's reassuring, any advisory on this kind of item or just carry on as you are?

I'm moving into a new house soon finally with a drive and garage so I was hoping it wud pass and at least I can tackle it on my own at a later date. I'm well up for giving it ago in the long run.

this passes even with the rusted slot next to the chassis rail above engine bar ( old G12 bottle keeps the water out of engine bay  )

any rusty holes near here is probably a fail

I think there is rusty holes there too, the vans under the carport at the mo and it's abit hard to get ur head in. I'll have a look tomorrow after work but I'm sure that will be a right state knowing my look. If it's rusty at the top and then at the bottom (so the two bits I cud see) it will no doubt be rusty there too. More pictures for u tomorrow then :rofl at least I now know I probably won't sleep very well tonight

Thank you very much for them pictures and info. At least I'm starting to get a feel for what I may be to expect from the MOT

get pics from under trailing arm as well as from wheel arch, zoom out a bit too, makes it easier to see

I thought photobucket scaled your photos, but something is wrong so assuming you have a windows pc you can use paint software and change size to 1024x768 pixels and save before upload.

I've just done all this on my iPhone which is a right ball ache. U can see on one of the pictures the part at the back of the wheel arch where you said may fail. The picture on my bucket is the one with the sealant on the left hand side and then further away in the middle. I'll get better ones tomorrow.
