Does anyone know the gauge of the pipe from the header to the expansion tank. I'd really like to get some on the way home. Thanks

https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/ ... x-3mm.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

cap measures 8mm so you may need clips with 8mm pipe but not really any pressure in this pipe so should be OK

7mm pipe was specified by VW according to Brickwerks

No pressure but for correct suction it needs to be an airtight fit.

yes of course, so clips may be needed for 8mm if not when new it may get a bit old and loose with age

I suspect 7mm is not a common size or brickwerks would stock it.

Without checking - I thought 7.5mm was a commonly available size which is what is needed for 8mm spigot.

maybe I'm just going by the Brickwerks description for the pipe but I measured a darlek cap as 8mm

7.5mm for 8mm spigot grips sufficiently obviating the need for clips. As it isn't under constant heat and pressure fuel line would suffice being of thick enough wall to not collapse on suction. ( doubtlessly most vans have fuel line for this :lol: ) And - if you buy it long enough you don't need to remove the hose to remove the cap! Just put a couple of twists in it before doing the cap up.

I agree if 7.5mm is readily available in a motor factor or shop on your way home buy it

The genuine VW cap tightens further around than the cap I had on so my old pipe was too short and was pulling at the cap. Ordered 7mm online. It's not expensive so I'll try to get 7.5 tomorrow. Thanks for the advice

Despite other opinions on this in the past, I used fuel pipe. Not had any probs.
