need help in West Wiltshire (exhaust)

hi guys,

i have a few days to travel through England after a great Busfest before catching the ferry in Harwich next Saturday. I'm a few miles from Salisbury now (Warminster) and it looks like one of the exhaust manifold pipes has sheared of the car runs but it's really loud.

is there any place i can turn to here where maybe they can have a look an weld it? It's a stainless system from Boxershop (German) on a 2.1 liter MV powered syncro 14.

any help is much appreciated.

E D I T: mobile number is +49176 10 35 27 23 (hope it will be working again in a few minutes, loading the battery now)

thanks Itchyfeet!

just bang-banged into the Salisbury racetrack camping (my neighbors told me they expected a Harley to come around the corner)

I will give the guys from Torque Technique a ring in the morning, I hope they can help.

When the exhaust cooled of a little, I had a closer look: the tube coming from the rear left cylinder is the one that snapped (really close to the cylinder (exhaust flange?) ) there is now a little gap where it tore off of about 3mm so I guess it was under some pressure (you need to apply a lot of force to try and close the gap). Even if it can be welded, I doubt they can do it in situ and I dread removing the manifold

These people made me a full stainless system for my Subaru conversion. Expensive, "pooh" welding, and it's rusty! I wouldn't recommend them if I'm honest. It took them two attempts to make my exhaust. The first attempt was herendiously loud so after I took it back to be made quieter he put a 3rd scilencer on and beat the box in with a hammer to clear the bottom pully. Couldn't even manage to put a nice tail pipe on!

My mate runs a garage in Combe bissit in Salisbury that could weld it. He would be a dam site cheaper and does anything to do with vw's. His name Pete and his no is 07788715980. Just a second option.

hey Dave, good to hear from you again!

I just hope it can be fixed, even if it' s a temporary thing. But the bus is still driveable, it's just embarrisingly loud. I'm driving through the beautiful countryside and get more attention then I care for. I comfort myself with the fact that i only annoy the locals once and i'm the only one who hears the noise all the time. (God I'm getting old, my Moto Guzzi had 115 decibel and I loved it  )

Anyway, Im still planning to go to New Forest, even if i scare the sh**t out of the donkeys

See you in Harwich Dave

Thanks for the assistance guys!

I went to Pete's garage and he was able to weld the exhaust. He said it's temporary but it will probably outlast the rest of the exhaust system. Had a really nice chat with him also, great guy!

I'm really happy to be in stealth mode again and the New Forest ponies seem to agree with that

Glad you got it sorted.

The most spooked I ever saw some New Forest horses was when they caught site of one of us lot sitting on top of one of their lot.

Probably the fear of the Agisters who round them up each year
