Clicking noise - CV Joints?

Recently a clicking noise has developed coming from the OS rear especially after braking but not after cornering. I got under and checked the bolts on the CV joint and they're all tight. Wiggling the drive shaft cures the noise for a while. However there is play in the cv joint and I can rattle it slightly by hand. Does that mean it's failed?
