Sliding door - early/late

What's the difference between an early and late sliding door? I've got an early 82, is is possible to replace the whole door and mechanisms with a late?

Thanks. But it doesn't really state if the mechanics are interchange able, regardless of the door.
For example: Can I replace my door hinge with a new late model -

No, not interchangeable. I think none of the parts are. Or maybe the lower vertical roller bearing is the same.
Early hinge:
