Blast gun...

I'm after a bit of advice regarding media blast guns...
I'm preparing to start the bodywork on my T3. Biggest issue is a few areas of rust in the seams.

Been looking on the machine mart site. Would the SB3 or SB5 be any good? Or is there anything better? I don't have a massive compressor just a single phase 50 litre

Advice is greatly received as I'm used to repairing cars which don't rust...I'll leave you to guess!

Thanks

How much CFM does it move?

Looking at spec sheet it has a 5mm (3/16" and a bit ? ) Its saying you only need 12cfm@90psi. Google 'Blasting nozzle size cfm' - remember increased nozzle size and same PSI create an exponential CFM curve.

In simple terms, ive used an (IIRC) an 18cfm compressor with a 250l tank with a 4.5mm nozzle and the compressor was working like a mo fo and had to give it regular breaks as (1) it was running out of air (2) it was getting hot.

:ok

Air tools in a nutshell! Tools dirt cheap, compressor man enough = ££££

I have a single phase 3hp 200 litre compressor. Nozzle size is about 3mm or so and my compressor can't keep up with it at all.

Just read this thread again. Should have typed 18hp not 18cfm

Oh dear. So better to weld in new repair sections... or take it somewhere ...
