Not much you can do for square lights except brighter bulbs and relays. For round you can almost double the output using units that are half the price of old-school Hella units but you need to upgrade battery to dash cable as a starting point.

You'll notice the cutoff point is more defined with my lights but thats because they're more accurate. Hellas are not. I'm only using standard bulbs too. The voltage drop to headlights on stock T25 is significant - hence the need for bigger cable and relays.
Cable upgrade needed:

Each has their merits in a visual sense, and taste plays a part but square are expensive to source (and replace) and in my view nowhere near as flexible as round ones. The choice of 7" round headlights seems to grow every year. Can't see an advantage in using HID. My eyes not as great as they were as a teen but I have no problem seeing the road with mine. None whatsoever.
What amuses me is people who attempt to fit higher wattage bulbs in headlights with dull reflectors and not a relay in sight. They miss the point somewhat.
