Hi all. I'm trying to remove the fridge (Electrolux RM 4200S) from my 1987 Autosleeper Trident to clean the gas section as it's becoming difficult to light. I'm having difficulty removing the large vent which incorporates the flue pipe, so I can get to the units wiring/plumbing. The vent is made from plastic or glass fibre and seems fragile, while the flue cover is made from aluminium. I have removed all screws and have tried to gently prise the large cover from the bodywork as it seems to be bonded in place but think that the flue is stopping the cover from coming away and needs to be removed before the cover. Does anyone know how to remove the flue as all I can get is small side to side movement? There seems to be a small screw or rivet visible about 1 1/2" inside the flue. Have checked the Wiki but I dont think my vent is the same as the one described. Thanks in anticipation.

If someone has been clever and put a screw into the flue and outlet pipe ( which isn't normally needed) you are just going to pull in the hope that they haven't done the same at the fridge end! Either that or find some long skinny arms that can work unsighted and remove the screw somehow.
Pics would help but I get the impression that the alloy vent is integrated or on top of the plastic vent?
Have you got a lower vent? If so you can reach up from that for access - you can also get at the gas burner area with a little difficulty via this.
Normally a fridge will just pull away from the flue as they aren't secured with a screw as there is no need. The fridge end should be just pushed over a T-piece outlet. (But I don't know the intricacies of that model)

Hi, thanks for reply. Yes alloy vent on top of plastic vent. No lower vent just a hole in the floor. Will try to post some pics.

Is the plastic free enough from the body for you to be able to twist the whole caboodle so that you can access the screw through the hole? - if it is normal spiral type flue you should be able to do this, if not try twisting repeatedly and pulling outwards and the flue should come free from the fridge end if not screwed.

Think that this screw is key to removal. Will have another look tomorrow as its lashing down outside. Tried to post pics but message says the board quota has been reached

it all came away as one piece when I removed my air vent,I assumed that was what it was supposed to do

I think that all that has happened is the fridge end is tight or has been secured again - someone never thought of later removal issues.

the fridge vent cover on mine was fixed to the main plastic/glassfibre cover and all came off together,someone has removed that separately before you by the look of it

Cheers for the help guys. Off to the Isle of wight this week. Will have another pop at it when I get back. At least fridge works ok on hook up.

The flue pipe can be removed, it slips over a pipe on the fridge.
yours looks bonded on for some reason, wrongly I would say.

The plastic vent might be sealed/bonded on, so it might take a bit of persuading.
