just wondering how rare is the Devon Sunrise

According to devon the sunrise took over from the moonraker and the name is still in use today as the conversion name for most of their vans . The name is on all the vans ie - renault ldv and so on .

Does your van have a roof number ? It should be inside next to the top of the bellows at the rear of the roof . It should also have a build number on the b post next to the passenger seat . Devon conversions exeter . They were built in totnes and the roofs were fitted at the coachworks in vulcan way . Dougal .

The most common T25 devon conversions by far are the early air-cooled Moonrakers with the distinctive striped roof canvas and the famous 2-tone paint option. As the decade wore on so numbers built decreased - the later water-cooled Moonrakers fron the mid-80's like mine had a different pop-top and graphics and I've never met another exactly like it yet, but the Sunrise is also very uncommon now. I don't recall having seen a nice original one for sale in the last couple of years or so, and never seen one on the road either. It seems that the Auto Sleeper conversions are the UK models that survive in the biggest numbers from the watercooled era - there are at least 3 within a 5 mile radius of me.

The Sunrise, judging by the brochure I've seen, looked a very nice layout and quite high-spec, offered alongside the Moonraker at first from around 1985, but it was more expensive. I prefer the Devon conversions over all the other UK ones as they were the official licensed converters over here and supplied by VW with Caravelles that already had factory windows. That's preferable to a panel-van conversion in my book. They also have a long history converting VW's, going back to the Splits, and are still in business today.
