What oil is recommended for a 2.1 MV?
Done a search but seem to come up with different answers, so far its either VW Platinum 5w/40 fully synthetic or 15W/40 semi synthetic, andrew page website says 10W/40 semi synthetic!!

Depends how sha99ed it is really. 15W40 semi will be fine. Its the bigger "hot" number that matters.
20W50 if its struggling to make pressure when hot i.e. ripe for rebuild...

4.5 litres of mineral* 15/40.
One oil is pretty much the same as any other oil (within reason) as long as you change it regularly (4,000 miles or when the tappets tell you it's time) and check it ... that's daily if it's a new van until you know it's behaviour patterns, then maybe weekly/monthly depending on use. As an old van/lorry driver I check my fluids every morning out of old habit/best practice what ever you'd prefer to call it.

*other respected opinions are available but I stick to what I KNOW works.
