Hi All,

Purchased a shonkily restored T25 Holdsworth so whilst we have some cash just sorting as much as possible and have the following questions that I hope someone with some good knowledge can help with ....

Just been at the garage for £450 of work including welding, waxoil, new panels, window seals ...... but now the interrior is left to me - I am respraying and modding the furniture that the previous owner had built so it will actually work a bit better but have the following questions ....

1) What thickness plywood for the main floor (was thinking 12mm)
2) Do I ply line over the engine / boot bay (this was done before but cannot think why as nothing is attached) - this will have soundproof matting over it so should I cover this?
3) What thickness ply for the panels on the walls (I will be veltimming over these again nothing is attached to these)
4) when fitting the carpet on the walls should I run this to the bottom and under the ply wood floor?
5) How do people cover the rear wheel arches? again have soundproofed but do people ply or carpet as well?

Basically want a neat finish ......

A lot of this is down to personal choice.
12mm is fine for the floor. Some people use thicker stuff, but bear in mind it gets heavy. Also, some people will put a layer of insulation under the ply. Most common is a layer of ply, then a layer of plain or patterned vinyl. Be careful if you put ply over the engine bay, as this might mean your bed is no longer level. Some beds fold flat in line with the engine bay, some sit considerably higher, and therefore need a platform built to bring it all together. Check this out before proceeding.
Don't know much about ply or carpet on the walls. Plenty of info on the camper forum though.....
Rear wheelarches?

12nn seems thick to me, dunno what you need though.

Bearing in mind the walls are usually covered with hardboard, be sure your choice of ply is flexible enough to allow you to shape it to follow the curves, I think about 3 or 4mm. How are you planning on attaching them?

The wheel arches are usually under the bed and inside the cupboards, in which case just flash band (self adhesive roof flashing) them. But if not, then I would cover with flash banding to deaden the noise a bit, then carpet.

The carpet looks best if you go to the floor and tuck behind or just under the floor ply panel, but be sure it won't get wet. However this only applies to the carpet if you are covering the exposed bare metal, if your just doing the ply panels, you wrap,around them and therefore can't see the edges.

If you're insulating behind the panels, make sure the material you use in non-absorbent or totally sealed in an airtight bag otherwise condensation will be trapped against the skin and will rot your van. Soggy rock wool is often the cause of bad corrosion in home conversion jobs.

Flooring panels are usually 12mm for,light use or 15mm for heavy use. I think for most people just camping, then 12mm is plenty.

Using some professional conversion thermoliner not rock wool etc which I hope will do the job !
