hi everyone my water pump is knackered i have just been online and i found a circoli waterpump.any good as i need it fitting today/asap.cheers dave

In my experience cheap pumps don't last ( one I got from gsf lasted a year)
I only get them from VWH or Brickwerks now.

thanks for that the garage has just picked a decent one up from tps liverpool,he said they are having problems with a couple of bolts they are trying to remove.anyway asked him about the price including pump and coolant and labour and he said £195.00 all in,

quick update,the water pump did not have any engine studs with it can i get some of these and if so what size?the garage said they can just use bolts but i would rather use original parts,also the pump was exactly the same apart from it had a holed thread in it for some sort of,well not really sure really but came with a blanking bolt and a longer threaded tube/water pipe maybe or for bleeding or something.cheers dave

Extra hole in pump and tube is for 2.1 oil coolers, you just fit the plug
Any garage worth their money can measure the hole depth, pump thickness, nut thickness and tell you what length stud to order.
Mild steel is origional fit.

thanks for that,they just said they can use bolts would that be ok?cheers dave

You can use bolts but studs are better because the threads in the engine are more prone to stripping with bolts.
It may not be the last pump you fit, that who knows what brand gsf pump you bought may need changing again in a year or two and if the threads strip out then you are into helicoils and more cost.

If a garage can't get hold of m8x45 studs then they should be ashamed of themselves.

thanks where would i get hold of some of them tomorow any sort of motoring shop any pics of which one to get?cheers dave

Gsf may even have them if open common size

GSF water pumps used to be VAG parts anyway with the logo engraved out and WERE as good as any other pump I ever fitted.

As Itchyfeet says I worry about any garage who can't fit a plain and simple late system water pump in a plain and simple late T25 petrol without drama. My last one took me an hour on the drive to swap.

To me they may have talked up a drama to overcharge you BUT if it's £50/hour for 2 hours plus £30 a/f plus a £40 pump plus vat then .....

Personally I would ask for an itemised invoice 'for the van's record file' obviously and never use them again if it doesn't work out reasonably.

Oh and I change my pumps nose down (I have no option where we live ) that way you can catch most of the coolant and it's a minimal bleeding job.
