i have a 1z tdi conversion in my syncro .... Runs fantastically.. Except I have started to notice that on a long run when you start get very comfortable with how thing are running I feel a kind of slight retard/power drop off ( athhough not quite a drop but a cease in increase ) when I hit 3k with a fair bit of pedal, On a long drawn out slog up a continuous hill when the revs are gradually building as soon as I hit the 3k it almost feels like a govenor kicks in .. Very slight but most definitely there and I can't push through it ! ... On a lesser hill/on the flat it will sail past 3k. I have a "scan gauge" but it won't connect with my Ecu ... Any ideas ???? :?

Morning Andy, whilst I can't think of anything of the top of my head as to the power loss, except maybe something like inlet air temperature going sky high on the long incline, I can't understand why your scangage won't connect - mine works perfectly in my 1Z, have you tried it in another vehicle to confirm that it does work, and have you ever had the obd port on the van working? It only needs 3 wires, comms, switched live and ground, really simple but I think you're going to need it working to get to the bottom of your problem, so you can either scangage or vagcom it.

What about your glowplug light, have you got that working so it would indicate going into fault mode?

Thanks Rob .... My scangauge does work on my mates conversion... But never on mine !
I can't say ifmy port works or not as I have no way of checking ??? Does have 3 wires !
I assumed that my ecu was older and not supported by the gauge as its from a P reg'd golf???
