Looking for VW mechanic in Southern France

Hi everyone.

I need a bit of help. I have a problem with my 3H gearbox jumping out of 5th very badly. The problem is internal after a process of elimination. I have got a guy who is helping and will strip down box to replace the synchronizer He has not worked on a VW before but I now have the Bentley manual 'Bible'. So, I'm wondering...are there any VW mechanics or enthusiasts living in the South of France that are likely to have any of the special vw tools required for the job or able to do the job themselves if they are familiar.I have the original gearbox and I believe the part would be interchangeable.

I know this is a long shot but I thought I would try as I am an eternal optimist!

Thanks
Sally

Where's your ferry back from ? If it's Santander you haven't got that far to limp back .... if Calais then you may have a more serious issue. I wouldn't let the Belgian mechanic who came out to us take our broken gearbox out ... 2 reasons, 1) he couldn't find it and 2) he'd just dropped the spare wheel carrier onto his forehead looking for it. :pimp
