Melted wire

Hi,

I posted this on facebook but just wanted to double check.
Whilst on holiday the black wire shown in the photo has melted away. The van wouldnt start afterwards and I believe it to be the fuel pump wire.
Is this correct?
Could this be it has shorted out and melted the wire?
The wire then leads into a loom and to the engine management. can I run a new wire to this?

If it was plain black then it is the power feed from the ignition switch via the fusebox which goes to the coil. The fuel pump cable is white.

Hi Thanks for the reply.

It is black with a white cable going into the same spade.
The wire runs into a black junction with a 53 relay. That then leads into the engine management.

That would go to the idling stabilizer then. The relay is the injection relay that switches on the ECU via the white wire and the idling stabilizer via the black wire, the other relay is for the fuel pump.
