Hello everyone,

I was wondering if somebody could help me identify the carb on my 1988 t25 1.9 dg.

It does have the name weber stamped on it but I am not convinced it is a genuine weber.

I am trying to source a rebuild kit for it (gaskets etc).

Every weber carb i have seen in an extensive Internet search does not look anything like this one.

I am hoping that some knowledgable person will see it and know what it is....... Please see photos ...thanks

google weber dmtl 28 34, perhaps not the exact model but close.

Looks the same to me too. Thanks. This has been driving me mad! I think I'll order a spares kit for a 34 and see how I get on.

Don't do that because there could be lots of variation, just like there are loads of pierburg 2e3s
get onto a carb specialist like Gower and lee, send them the pics and they will identify.

Bloody awful things, now thankfully discontinued.
My advice is to find a good Pierburg 2e3 and put it back to standard.

Why do the Webers get such a bad rap? I have a SS 2.1 on a 32/34 DMTL (my own conversion (and it works really well. Mileage is good too.
When fitted to a DJ it was amazingly torquey and responsive.

No idea, millions of cars had them fitted from Alfa's to Volvo's they worked pretty well. The usual problem is people put them on as a replacement and expect them to work straight away and don't know how to set them up.

I used the LT 2.4 replacement carb and didn't even have it re-jetted!

I suspect that the Weber chokes are just a bit too big for the shorter-stroke 1.9 and so doesn't develop the necessary inlet air velocity, this makes them fluffy at low rpm and forces the driver to give it more throttle, adversely affecting fuel consumption.

I also know not to hang my handbag on the choke knob

Hi guys. Just thought I'd let you know I got the kit from gower and Lee and fitted it yesterday. Vans driving really well. Thanks to itchy feet for the recommendation.
