Movement in front bearings?

Hello advise needed please.

Both front wheel bearings were getting a bit noisy so I decided to renew them.
Since changing the bearings the brake pedal has had long travel after cornering. I did a few circles in the yard and took off the front wheels to check. The pads have been knocked back by the discs causing the long brake pedal.
I have adjusted the bearings up until there is no play to try and remedy the problem but it is still there.
Has anyone else ever experienced this or is it possibly down to cheap bearings?

Cheers.

Did you replace bearing in discs?

^^^^ WHS - possibility of the inside bearing not being pressed fully home to start with and it is moving inwards in use, especially cornering forces will put more pressure on it. If not replaced though...... dunno :D

Yes, I replaced inner and outer bearings and they were pushed all the way home.
Will take them off and double check everything.
Thanks for your replies.

You did assemble them the correct way round? I managed to fit some [in a 1972 bay] back to front!!

Check the wheels for play. If there is none, you have a caliper issue.

Yes I am sure I did, I will remove them and check as soon as I get time.

There is no play but not sure it is a caliper fault as it only happens after tight cornering. The pedal is OK most of the time.

Cheers

Leggy, funnily enough I have a very similar issue after changing front bearings and. The brake pedal goes down s long way when first off but mostly ok subsequently. I bled all the brakes a bit which got rid of a few bubbles but made little difference. I've been wondering about the caliper as occasionally there is a noise on one side as if perhaps a lot of flack being taken up when pedal first pressed. Good luck sorting it out.

Problem sorted. I have learned that it is good to check you have the correct parts when fitting them.
The bearings were supplied wrong, the outer (small bearing) was too big for the stub axle.
Thanks for the replies people.
