1.9 diesel VAG engine conversion

I'm going along, tomorrow, to look at a 1980 T25 Holdsworth Villa Conversion.

The advertiser states it has had 1.9 diesel VAG engine conversion.

What does VAG mean ? Will the engine have come off another type of vehicle, Passatt etc as I thought VW only did 1.6 and 1.7 diesel.

Any advice or help appreciated

VAG just stands for Volkswagen Audi Group.
As you say, probably from a Passat or similar, effectively a larger capacity version of the 1.6 T25 engine, may well be turbo.

Simple google tells you that the vag diesels start at a 1.2l and go up to a 6l one!
