Help, emergency, Headlight issue

We were about to head off on holiday to the ferry last night, when the headlights failed to come on.

The symptoms are no headlight or full beam, the rest of the lights work and the dash lights work.
The full beam warning light is also on.
Pulling the indicator/flasher switch, doesn't put on the full beam.

I had a look at a wiring diagram it reads to me that if the flasher switch doesn't trigger the full beam, then it must be the flasher switch.
But after a bit of googling, people are saying that the headlight switch is at fault??

My diagram doesn't seem to feature the headlight relay, but I can hear a relay clicking.

Any help would be appreciated, I would just take it to an auto electricians, but I am worried incase they can't get parts and it delays my holiday.

Thanks.

Does sound like column switch, maybe fit a temporary on/off switch to just turn dipped on.

There is no headlight relay unless somebody has fitted one.
have you checked standard fuses?
Also go looking to see if headlight wiring has been changed, a common upgrade and if so wiring isn't to manual and additional fuses could have been fitted.

Try the earth crown connections behind the fuse box and under the windscreen pillar, I had a similar problem a couple of years back, when you put the headlights on do the sidelights go out, if they do it's a fair bet that it's an earth issue

Sounds like an earth problem.

Clean off the connectors to your earth crowns - see here:

Hopefully your problem should be solved.

Spot on, it was an earth issue :)

Changed the flasher and headlight switch first though in gsf car park.

We made it to Dover with 10 mins to spare :)

Thanks all, for your advise.
