Had my van for about 2 months and noticed this when I got it. It is not a wet patch but there is clearly something making Causing it.
Any ideas. I have had a look round the carb and there is nothing obvious.

Does it smell of petrol by any chance?

(I would guess that the accelerator pump has a leaky diaphragm)

A bit of petrol I guess, just put my finger in the bit closest to the bottom of the carb and its oily/sludgy.

What's the remedy please. And would this result in slightly poor running?

Best to get familiar with the various bits of the 2E3 and double check the source of the leak.
Any number of things can cause poor running.

Hmmm, I'm not a carb expert. I guess the diaphragm is accessed by unscrewing the housing. Is it the 13 or 19mm one?

Could be petrol dripping stain could also be where somebody sprayed oil or grease in an attempt to fix it.

If you are not familiar with carbs then ask yourself do I wan't to learn ( and may be make mistakes along the way making ths van undrivable) or do I want to pay for a carb rebuild ( assuming it nedds one) and go camping?

I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. I've already changed the engine oil, gearbox oil and removed, stripped and cleaned starter motor.

4 screws to take off and inspect the diaphragm?

What could go wrong? Lol

Thanks for the pic by the way. I note you have jubilee clips on the fuel line. I thought fuel line clips were better as they did not nip the hose so much?

Yep you should use fuel clips.
sometimes I break the rules (although I think this may have been done by somebody else when LPG fitted)

Next question, sorry. If the diaphragm is cracked, at what point would it leak fuel?

I reckon it could be the diaphragm. All along the control armature that is activated by the main Venturi cam is wet. This is directly below the diaphragm housing.

It wouldn't but if the seal to the housing has perished chances are the whole thing has perished.

But it would leak fuel?
