installing a oil temp gauge help!! newbie

Hi newbie here so apologies if im covering old ground, would like to install an oil temperature gauge in a 2ltr cu . Reasons are this is my first air cooled engine so a secondary reassurance tool like a vdo would settle the nerves ( maybe ) 
So what are my options, is it worth it , where , how ??????????
