Clutch pedal dash-in repairs on the samba

Not tried it myself just yet, but intend to try it before I have the dash out. Don't know if this technique works on rhd...

I've been watching this topic too.. Though my dash is due out for some other fixes too.

I have a feeling that it isn't as easy on a rhd. When I did mine I couldn't slide the shaft to the right IIRC - it hits the bodywork or something, they are moving towards the centre of the van whereas we have to move it to the side.
I see on the thread that someone has done what I mused over, namely bushing. I decided that there wasn't enough meat on the metal to allow it. It really does need something though to increase the bearing area to cut down on the wear.

I tried exactly that technique a couple of years ago when a colleague managed to bend the push rod when changing the cylinder. As mentioned above, it was unsuccessful due to the shaft meeting the bodywork. I finally just bent the pushrod back to shape. Didn't realise how soft the metal was!
